NFL Week Four Preview: Favre’s Vikings and Rogers’ Packers are the Game of the Week
September 30, 2009
Without a doubt the game to watch and wager on in the BetOnline online sportsbook is the Monday nighter in Week 4 of the 2009 NFL Season.
Green Bay vs. Minnesota
Brett Favre and the undefeated Minnesota Vikings host the Green Bay Packers in the Metrodome. At this point, the Norsemen are favored by 3 ½ to take down the Pack. Can they cover the spread? If their game against the San Francisco 49’ers was any indication, Minnesota could have a tough time this coming Monday night.
Green Bay’s passing game is suddenly on track and Aaron Rodgers and the Packers’ offensive line would like nothing better than to outplay Favre and that Minnesota offensive line. No matter what happens, expect a high scoring affair as the Vikings have scored 34, 27 and 27 in their first three games and the Packers have scored 21, 24 and 36 in their first three games.
Minnesota’s pass defense is terrible. Green Bay’s rush defense isn’t that great. Adrian Peterson eats up the Packers’ D and Aaron Rodgers and Donald Driver eat up the Vikings’ D. Over 46 in the sportsbook looks pretty good, I think.
Sanchez vs. Brees Could Be a Good One
Another dome is the site of arguably the second best football wagering game in the NFL this weekend as the New Orleans Saints take on the visiting New York Jets.
Mark Sanchez has done everything that has been asked of him and more as the rookie QB of the New York Jets. The Jets have beaten three solid football teams in 2009, the Houston Texans, New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans, and now must face arguably the best team in the NFC Conference at this point in the season, the New Orleans Saints.
This will be Sanchez’s toughest test as the Saints have the 10 th ranked defense in the NFL, the top ranked offense in the NFL, and one of the most raucous fan bases in the NFL. If Sanchez can lead the Jets to victory over New Orleans in the Superdome, then watch out. The BetOnline odds makers are thinking that Sanchez can’t as the Jets are 6 ½ point underdogs versus the Saints this Sunday.
Odds Makers Say Steelers Bounce Back
The Pittsburgh Steelers are solid 6 ½ point favorites over the San Diego Chargers this week and I’m not sure if there is a football betting fan out there ready to argue against it.
Pittsburgh is 1 and 2 straight-up and 0 and 3 ATS so far this NFL Season. They’ve lost two close games against Chicago and Cincinnati and now get a chance to take on San Diego at home.
The Chargers haven’t been that impressive this year. They blew a lead against Baltimore at home two weeks ago and almost lost to the Oakland Raiders on the road straight up three weeks ago. Last Sunday, they got lucky when Miami QB Chad Pennington went down with an injury.
The Steelers are a good bet to step it up and to get their second victory straight-up and first victory against the spread this Sunday against San Diego.
Ravens Can Continue Upward Climb Against Patriots
The Baltimore Ravens have been about as impressive as any team in the NFL in 2009. They can continue their upward climb in the AFC Conference by beating the team that usually has the top spot, the New England Patriots.
The Patriots bounced back from their loss to the Jets in Week 2 to beat Atlanta both straight up and ATS, 26 to 10, in Week 3. Baltimore is a much better team than the Pats and New England will need to be close to perfect in order to shut down the Ravens’ offense which has been fantastic behind the arm of Joe Flacco and the running of Willis McGahee and Ray Rice.
When it comes to New England’s offense, they will need to get Randy Moss more involved early and Fred Taylor out on the edge so that he can use his excellent speed. They will need to protect Tom Brady from that terrific Ravens’ linebacking corps led by Ray Lewis.
The BetOnline odds makers know how tough this game will be. The football wagering line currently stands at New England -2 in the sportsbook.
Champions League Tuesday Results: Liverpool stunned by Fiorentina and more…
September 30, 2009
UEFA Champions League Tuesday batch of second group matches came to a dramatic close as Internazzionale Milan were frustrated by Ruben Kazan to a 1:1 draw and with AC Fiorentina – making the biggest splash of the night – thwarting Liverpool FC 2:0.
If Ruben Kazan and AC Fiorentina came into their respective matchups as massive underdogs someone had omitted to tell them and there followed perhaps the most scintillating 90 minutes of football. They certainly didn’t play like the mere puppies they were held to be in the market and took it to their star-studded opponents with interest.
The biggest story of the night has to be Liverpool suffering their first loss in UEFA Champions League group action in like forever. To be exact, it was their first loss since October 2007 when they suffered a 2-1 defeat by Besiktas in group action.
Disappointing as this result was for Liverpool and their fans they can take heed of the clubs imperious history and resilience both in the competition and domestic front. One bad result doesn’t the end spell.
To look at the standings in Group E, I won’t lie, it looks grim for Rafa Benitez and his men. They are third in the table, level on points with Fiorentina at 3, and 3 points shy of top of the table Olympique Lyonnais.
Nothing to it. Benitez and his men will have to look ahead to match day 3 when they will welcome Lyon to Anfield Stadium. A good home UEFA Champions League victory is just what the doctor ordered and so at Anfield Stadium, Liverpool have to recover lost ground.
Ruben Kazan made a real effort before their fans, they missed out on two points, failing to take some key chances late in the match when they had the man advantage. The one point they gained is still a satisfactory result against Inter Milan when most expected them to walk away empty-handed. Group F is tightly packed right now with all four clubs separated by a point after two cycles. Barcelona, after beating Dynamo Kyiv 2:0 on Tuesday are back on top of Group F with four points from two cycles. Dynamo Kyiv are second (1-0-1) and Inter Milan are third (0-2-0). Group F is finally taking on the shape many expected it would from the start.
In other matches today, Sevilla FC continued their imperious form beating Rangers FC 4:1 on the away while, Stuttgart and Unirea Urziceni drew 1:1. Sevilla lead Group G with six points. Stuttgart are second with two points and the Romanian debutants and Rangers are level on points at one apiece.
Arsenal FC enjoyed a 2:0 victory over Olympiacos at Arsenal Stadium today and the victory put them at the top of Group H with six points while Olympiacos slipped to second spot with three points. Meanwhile, Standard de Liege and AZ Alkmaar drew 1:1 in the other Group H match on Tuesday. By sharing in the spoils, they each finally got on the board with a point apiece.
Champions League Group A: Bayern Munchen vs. Juventus
September 30, 2009
The billing of gargantuan proportions in UEFA Champions League group action and the match most soccer bettors are simply salivating over is the impending Group A clash between Bayern Munchen and Juventus.
Coffee shops, pubs and taverns from Germany to Italy and around the world will be packed to the brim, stopping every and any activity except watching these two former European Champions battle it out for 90 scintillating minutes on the European stage. Each club claims a tremendous history in this competition and they are in their own right on both the domestic and European level formidable opponents, familiar with what exactly is at stake in such clashes and how to come out on top.
Soccer Betting Line:
Bayern Munich -½ +110 +110 2½ O -115 U -105 1½ O Ev U -130 Draw +225
Juventus +½ -130 +250 2½ O -115 U -105 1 O -130 U Ev Draw +225
Match Time: 02:45 P.M. Eastern Time Wednesday September 30 2009
Venue: Fußball Arena München – Munich – Germany
Soccer Betting Verdict: Coach Louis van Gaal has urged his men ahead of this titanic clash to maintain focus and build on their opening Group A victory over Maccabi Haifa that has them sitting at the top of Group A with a two-point lead. The message to his players clear: take Juventus outfit unbeaten in all competitions seriously.
Bayern and Juventus have a lot of options to turn to on their respective benches from seasoned veterans with priceless international experience to youthful talent with exuberant technical class. This is going to be a tough match indeed and a tough call on the outright win.
Bayern are naturally short to Juventus in the market as they have the home edge. Bayern at +110 is a good price for soccer bettors looking to back the Bundesliga side to victory. Yet, detractors point to certain inconsistencies in their form that has them currently seventh spot in the Bundesliga table. With unstable form they are not the sure play to win outright – so they say.
Juventus at +250 to take the away win are a value play in many circles and considering the quality on their bench, namely the man between the posts Buffon it would be silly to argue with that theory. That Juventus is undefeated in all competitions and currently sitting second in Serie A table leads many to believe they can beat Bayern. Like all streaks, they come to an end – ahem Liverpool. To say Juventus will not lose because they have not lost a match yet is illogical. Just saying.
For all these parts, the popular opinion is that the draw at +225 is the most likely outcome. Now, while it wouldn’t be a disaster for them to share in the spoils, methinks neither side will want to take the chance they would down the road regret having not extracted maximum points at this early juncture.
Soccer Free Picks: I am going for the outright win and if I were to bet house money I would bet on Bayern. I also like to the combined team overs at 2 ½ -115.
Thailand Open First Round Quick Picks
September 30, 2009
Bangkok, Thailand – The last cycle of first round matches at the Thailand Open are set to get underway with Leonardo Mayer, Rainer Schuettler and Thomaz Bellucci on the docket set to bid for a spot in the second round. Here is a look at the market on the Thailand Open complete with BetOnline tennis betting odds and lines.
Tennis Betting Line: Rainer Schuettler -160 Kevin Kim +120
Match Time: 01:30 A.M. Eastern Time Wednesday September 30 2009
Tennis Betting Verdict: Rainer Schuettler takes a 1-0 edge over Kevin Kim into their first round clash at the Thailand Open. Schuettler, currently ranked No.95 in the world, has not had the best of seasons and arrives in Bangkok 14-24 on the year. More significantly, he has not won a main draw match since the Canada Masters early August when he reached the second round. Kevin Kim weighs in at No. 105 and is 6-14 on the season. Kim is appearing in his first event since reaching the second round of the US Open, which given his ranking and season is a good result.
Tennis Free Picks: Kim in three sets
Tennis Betting Line: Leonardo Mayer -180 Mischa Zverev +140
Match Time: 04:30 A.M. Eastern Time Wednesday September 30 2009
Tennis Betting Verdict: Argentinean Leonardo Mayer is favoured to win outright at BetOnline Sportsbook, listed at -180 on the money line and for the most part, I would agree with the market cast. Mayer enjoyed noteworthy results this season, namely reaching the semis at Los Angeles and the quarters at Eastbourne and New Haven and the second round of the US Open. Mayer is 15-13 on the season and takes a 1-0 edge over Zverev.
Tennis Free Picks: Mayer in straight sets
Tennis Betting Line: Viktor Troicki -120 Thomaz Bellucci -120
Match Time: 10:00 A.M. Eastern Time Wednesday September 30 2009
Tennis Betting Verdict: This should be an interesting clash between Viktor Troicki and Thomaz Bellucci in the first round of the Thailand Open. It is so interesting that bookies are overly loathed determining the real favourite in this match. Troicki is 25-23 on the season while Bellucci is 16-14 on the season with one title. There is a lot to recommend both players and tennis experts have each pegged for great things in the future. If there were an edge in this match, it would be surface edge and that would tip in favour of Troicki.
Tennis Free Picks: Troicki in three sets
Champions League Group A: Bordeaux vs. Maccabi Haifa
September 30, 2009
FC Girondins de Bordeaux are undefeated in all competitions this season and they will aim to maintain that perfect record when they continue their UEFA Champions League bid against Maccabi Haifa on match day two in Group A.
Meanwhile, Maccabi Haifa are looking to gain their first point in Champions League action and they are optimistic about their chances, even though the soccer betting market would have it otherwise.
Soccer Betting Line:
Bordeaux -1½ -120 -400 2½ O -115 U -105 2 O -125 U -105 Draw +440
Maccabi Haifa +1½ Ev +1050 2½ O -115 U -105 ½ O +115 U -145 Draw +440
Match Time: 02:45 P.M. Eastern Time Wednesday September 30 2009
Venue: Stade Chaban-Delmas – Bordeaux – France
Soccer Betting Verdict: Girondins de Bordeaux made a statement when they managed to hold Juventus to a 1:1 draw on the away a fortnight ago. But for this statement to have any enduring meaning they need to underscore it with a convincing performance against Maccabi Haifa.
Nothing short of a win will suffice for the home side and they will do whatever it takes to extract all three points. The bookies favour Bordeaux at -400. They are not untouchable favourites but they are certainly firm favourites to win outright.
Their undefeated mark in all competitions – home record 6-1-0 and CL mark of 0-1-0 – is sufficient assurance for soccer bettors looking to bank on their odds.
These two teams have never met before; in fact, Bordeaux have never faced Israeli opposition. Maccabi Haifa on the other hand have faced French opposition having earned a 1:1 draw at Paris Saint-Germain FC on their only previous visit to France in the 1998/99 UEFA Cup winners first round.
The equalising goal came courtesy of Yossi Benayoun (currently a part of the Liverpool outfit) in the dying minutes of the match.
Maccabi Haifa are enjoying a great season in domestic action but the titleholders have yet to transcend domestic success to European success. At +1050 underdog odds they market is discouraging.
Soccer Free Picks: Bordeaux should be able to take all three points in this match but it mayn’t be quite as easy a match as the market suggests. Bordeaux had a domestic match on Sunday so they might be a bit tuckered out while Maccabi Haifa rested up over the weekend as they had a national Holliday. Bordeaux to win at -400 and Bordeaux to cover the spread at -1 ½ -120.
NFL Week 4 Expert Picks
September 30, 2009
Last week I went 13 of 16 for my NFL Expert Picks, including more upsets. This week we have some huge matchups like the Jets visiting the Saints in a battle of undefeated teams, or Tom Brady and the Patriots trying to answer a lot of the questions about if they are still the same team from 2 years ago.
But of course NFL betting fans, there is no story like Brett Favre facing his old team the Green Bay Packers.
Here are my NFL Week 4 picks.
Baltimore (3-0, Road: 1-0) 1:00 pm EDT
New England (2-1, Home: 2-0) CBS
I’m pretty sure the Baltimore Ravens defensive unit will follow Rex Ryan’s game plan in blitzing Tom Brady like the Jets did.
I don’t think Brady and the Pats are quite there yet. But if Brady wants to show that he’s back, he has a nice chance to do it against one of the best teams in the league.
Baltimore Ravens +2 -110
New England Patriots -2 -110
O /U 44 -110
My pick: Upset by the Ravens. Under.
Tennessee (0-3, Road: 0-2) 1:00 pm EDT
Jacksonville (1-2, Home: 0-1) CBS
On the road the Titans will get their first win of the season. Tennessee had run for more than a 100 yards in the last two matchups against the Jaguars. Expect Chris Johnson to have a fantastic game.
Tennessee Titans -3 -110
Jacksonville Jaguars +3 -110
O /U 41 -110
My pick: the Titans will cover the spread. Over.
Detroit (1-2, Road: 0-1) 1:00 pm EDT
Chicago (2-1, Home: 1-0) FOX
Jay Cutler threw 21 of 27 for 247 yards and three touchdowns, with one interception and he seems to be getting into a good rhythm. The Lions finally won after 19 games beating the Redskins in week 3, but don’t expect them to get on a hot streak.
Detroit Lions +10 -110
Chicago Bears -10 -110
O /U 39 -110
My pick: Chicago will cover the spread. Over.
NY Jets (3-0, Road: 1-0) 4:05 pm EDT
New Orleans (3-0, Home: 1-0) CBS
We have the game of the week right here, haven’t I said that already? Well, the thing is that there are some huge games this week in the NFL and of course one of them is the undefeated battle between the Jets and the Saints.
We are about to see a big time offense vs. a big time defense. Most of the times defensive units win, that’s why I’m picking the Jets to stay undefeated and upsetting the New Orleans Saints.
NY Jets +7 -110
New Orleans Saints -10 -110
O /U 45 -110
My pick: the Jets. Under.
Buffalo (1-2, Road: 0-1) 4:05 pm EDT
Miami (0-3, Home: 0-1) CBS
The Dolphins are 0-3 and have lost Chad Pennington for the rest of the season.
Buffalo Bills -2 -110
New York Jets +2 -110
O /U 37 -110
My pick: the Bills will win at least by a field goal.
Dallas (2-1, Road: 1-0) 4:15 pm EDT
Denver (3-0, Home: 1-0) FOX
The Denver Broncos are not an amazing team but they have managed the way to stay undefeated after three weeks. The Cowboys, however leave me with more doubts after they struggled for most of the game against the Panthers this past Monday Night.
Dallas Cowboys -3 -110
Denver Broncos +3 -110
O /U 43 -110
My pick: bet the home underdog. Bet on the Broncos. Over.
San Diego (2-1, Road: 1-0) 8:20 pm EDT
Pittsburgh (1-2, Home: 1-0) NBC
Do you really think the Steelers will drop to 1-3? Even without Troy Polamalu they are very good. Plus San Diego had struggled in the red zone without Ladainian Tomlinson.
San Diego Chargers +6 -110
Pittsburgh Steelers -6 -110
O /U 43 -110
My pick: the Steelers won’t cover the spread. Under.
Green Bay (2-1, Road: 1-0) 8:30 pm EDT
Minnesota (3-0, Home: 1-0) ESPN
There is no bigger story in week 4 for you NFL betting fans than to see Brett Favre and the Vikings hosting his old team the Green Bay Packers in Minnesota. Favre is anxious for this game since he knew he’ll part of the Vikings organization.
Green Bay Packers +3 -110
Minnesota Vikings -3 -110
O /U 45 -110
My pick: Favre and the Vikings will cover. Over.
Champions League Group C: Real Madrid vs. Olympique de Marseille
September 30, 2009
Real Madrid opened their Champions League campaign with a convincing performance over Zurich FC, beating the Swiss 5:2 on the away. Real Madrid are now preparing for their first home UEFA Champions League group match on the new season when they will welcome Olympique de Marseille, losers in the first round after succumbing at home 2:1 to AC Milan. In spite of the disappointing start for the French side, they insist they have something to hope for against a Real Madrid outfit that has simply blown aside all before them so far.
Soccer Betting Line:
Real Madrid -1½ -130 -400 3½ O +105 U -125 2½ O -120 U -110 Draw +450
Marseille +1½ +110 +1000 3½ O +105 U -125 ½ O -140 U +110 Draw +450
Match Time: 12:30 P.M. Eastern Time Wednesday September 30 2009
Venue: Santiago Bernabéu – Madrid – Spain
Soccer Betting Trend: The expensively assembled Real Madrid outfit have been stunning on the new season, impressing on all fronts. In Primera, they are enjoying a five-match winning streak and they have extended the winning streak to six with the win over Zurich in Champions League.
Real Madrid will be looking to build on that formidable form with a victory over Marseille when they visit on Wednesday night for match day 2 of UEFA Champions League group action. That Real Madrid have been indomitable so far makes them deserved favourites to win outright. BetOnline is offering a hefty price of -400 on Real Madrid. Not the most enticing play but an almost certain banker.
Marseille have had mixed results in domestic action. They are fourth in the table after seven cycles and a haul of 4-2-1. Marseille has plenty of quality and huge attacking potential but mixed form makes them unpredictable.
Yet, despite all this, Marseille is seen to have very little to hope for according to the market as BetOnline bookies list them at a discouraging +1000 to win outright. Unless you are a diehard Marseille fan, better give these hallucinatory odds a skip.
Soccer Free Picks: Because the visitors are capable of scoring and we already know Real are a firing squad when it comes to scoring, betting on the goals in this match is the better play. Take the Over 3.5 goals on teams totals and the Over 2.5 goals at -120 for Madrid. Marseille should find the net at least once therefore even the Over ½ -140 is a good pick on Marseille.
Summer Bird Hopes to Pocket Celebrated Gold Cup
September 30, 2009
Woodrow Wilson was president, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was 660 and Sir Barton became the first Triple Crown winner when Belmont Park inaugurated the Jockey Club Gold Cup Invitational.
The year was 1919. The winner: Purchase. The purse: $5,850.
Purchase was headed to the Kentucky Derby when he reared up in his stall, caught a front hoof in a haystack and was slightly injured. The son of Ormondale also missed the Preakness.
The colt still won nine of 11 races during his sophomore year, including a three-length victory over Sir Barton in the Dwyer, and was the runner-up in two other stakes.
Four Triple Crown champs have captured the Gold Cup, including Gallant Fox in ’30 and Citation in ’48. Two others scored when they turned 4: Whirlaway, ’42, and Affirmed, ’79.
Nine horses were back-to-back winners with Curlin the latest, ’07 and ’08, when the purse was $450,000. Skip Away did it in ’95 and ’96 when the race was worth $600,000.
Kelso is the only Gold Cup champ to triumph more than twice – an amazing five times from ’60, when he was 3, to ’64, at 7.
Saturday’s likely favorite will be Summer Bird, who scored in the Travers and Belmont Stakes, the only runner that’s coming off a victory. The son of Birdstone worked five furlongs in a leisurely 1:02 1/5 over Belmont Park’s main track last Saturday.
The colt is aiming to join the ranks of nine 3-year-olds that captured the Belmont, Travers and Gold Cup, which includes such greats as Damascus, ’67; Sword Dancer, ’59; Gallant Man, ’57; and Man o’ War, ’20. The last sophomore to perform the feat was Easy Goer, ’89.
Quality Road, the Florida Derby victor that finished third in the Travers after missing Triple Crown events because of foot problems, went five furlongs in 1:01 3/5 the same morning over the Belmont dirt.
Dry Martini, with two victories this year at Belmont, covered the same distance in the same time at the same track. The 6-year-old rallied from well off the pace to win the Grade 2 Suburban while defeating Asiatic Boy by two lengths.
Asiatic Boy, also runner-up to Macho Again in the Stephen Foster at 1 1/8 miles, Saturday’s distance, recently posted a bullet 47 2/5 breezing a half-mile at Belmont last Saturday.
Macho Again, a head behind Rachel Alexandra in the Woodward, went five furlongs 1:04 over a sloppy Church Downs surface on Sept. 24. Asiatic Boy was fourth in that Grade 1 at Saratoga.
Others going in the $750,000 Grade 1 are non-stakes winners Tizway, boasting three victories in his last five outings, and Sette E Mezzo, recording three triumphs this year all on the grass.
Bullsbay, the Whitney winner that ran third in the Woodward, was being considered for the Gold Cup or Santa Anita’s Goodwood on Oct. 10 featuring Kentucky Derby champ Mine That Bird. But he was sidelined with an injury to his right front foot suffered during training.
Champions League Group B: Manchester United vs. VfL Wolfsburg
September 30, 2009
Joint group B leaders Manchester United and VfL Wolfsburg, each with three points after winning their opening fixture, are set to collide Wednesday night on match day 2 of UEFA Champions League group action. Manchester United will host VfL Wolfsburg at the Old Trafford in this match between reigning domestic titleholders.
Unlike other notorious German clubs, renowned for their experience at both the domestic and club level, Wolfsburg are the new-kids-on-the-block – so to speak – making their away debut in UEFA Champions League group stage. That the Old Trafford is considered one of the most intimidating stadiums in Premier League has been dismissed by Armin Veh as a non-issue. He is confident his men will be undaunted by the atmosphere.
Soccer Betting Line:
Manchester United -1½ +110 -275 3 O +115 U -135 2 O -135 U +105 Draw +350
Wolfsburg +1½ -130 +850 3 O +115 U -135 ½ O -140 U +110 Draw +350
Match Time: 02:45 P.M. Eastern Time Wednesday September 30 2009
Venue: Old Trafford – Manchester – England
Soccer Betting Verdict: Manchester United are enjoying a seven-match winning streak in all competitions, which definitely makes them favourites over the debutants to win outright on the money line. BetOnline Sportsbook is offering odds at -275 on Man U for the home win.
Man U detractors point to an inherent weakness in the team’s defence and feel it is a cause for concern especially against bigger clubs. Interestingly, their offence is strong even now that they are without their star striker Cristiano Ronaldo. Rooney, Berbatov and Owen have stepped it up for the Devils and seemingly find the net with ease. As such, the Over 2 goals -135 for Man U as a team is a banker.
Wolfsburg are oscillating between impressive to average results in Bundesliga right now. They are sixth in the table on the heels of mixed form , which makes them rather unpredictable. They are led by a front pair of Grafite and Edin Dzeko who are more than capable of wrecking havoc with Man U’s defence. Given that the Devils are weaker in the back many circles are of the opinion that we will see the visitors slot at least one into the net. The Over ½ -140 for Wolfsburg team totals is then a good play.
Soccer Free Picks: Man U will be looking to take maximum points in this match while Wolfsburg will aim to put forward a respectable performance and at the very best share in the spoils – so is the notion in the market. That is all fine and dandy and depending on which side of the coin you feel is more plausible – the Man U win or the draw – then that is where to bet your money. For my part, I recognize Man U are the more likely to win but I cannot for a second agree with the idea that Wolfsburg who are Bundesliga champions and deservedly so would come to the Old Trafford with as little to hope for as a point. Fiorentina only yesterday shocked Liverpool – granted it wasn’t at Anfield Stadium but still they played their little puppy hearts out against the much-favoured Liverpool and reaped the rewards for it. Just saying. Bundesliga clubs are always tough opponents and I wouldn’t underestimate them so quickly. Torn? Stick with the Overs an Unders.
College Football Expert Pick: Hawaii vs Louisiana Tech
September 30, 2009
The 4 point favorite Louisiana Tech Bulldogs host the Hawaii Warriors this Wednesday at 8:00 PM ET at Joe Aillet Stadium.
The Bulldogs won for the first time this season against Nicholls State 48-13 last week. Before that, they had lost to Auburn and Navy.
Louisiana’s QB Ross Jenkins has 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions so far with a 128.62 QB rating.
On the other side the Warriors had a 3-1 record after beating Central Arkansas and Washington State in the first two weeks and losing last week 34-33 against UNLV.
QB Greg Alexander has been outstanding with 9 TD and 2 interceptions and a 178.76 QB rating. College football betting fans should know that Hawaii is rank second in passing offense in the nation.
"This is an important game for us," Warriors’ coach Greg McMackin said. "The whole nation has a chance to see what Warrior football is all about. I feel a big responsibility for us to represent the team, our staff and the people of Hawaii."
Hawaii is 6-1 in their last seven meetings with Louisiana Tech. But, the Bulldogs are 8-2 in their last 10 games as a home favorite.
College Football Odds:
Hawaii Warriors +4 -110
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs-4 -110
My pick: Upset by the Warriors.
