Saratoga Betting – With Rains Coming Down, Think About Betting A Mudder in Race 8 at Saratoga on July 24th
July 24, 2010
The rains should continue Friday night and well into Saturday making it very difficult to find a winner in any of the scheduled turf races at Saratoga on Saturday.
Luckily, Race 8 at Saratoga is on the dirt. Not only is it on the dirt, but also the horse I like to win it should relish the mud.

For Fillies And Mares Three-Years-Old And Upward Which Have Never Won A Race Other Than Maiden, Claiming, Starter, Or Restricted Or Which Have Never Won Two Races.
7 furlongs over dirt
7-Happy Week – - 4/1 morning line odds
Todd Pletcher saddles Happy Week. The daughter of Distorted Humor has a record of 1-2-2 out of 6 lifetime races.
She’s also bred, with a Deputy Minister mare on the bottom, to absolutely love the mud. Since she’s never run over it before, I’m expecting that she’s going to hold at least her 4 to 1 morning line odds and might actually drift higher because of all of the love being thrown towards Ash Zee.
It’s only a matter of time before Happy Week takes that huge step forward. That step might occur in the 8th at Saratoga on Saturday.
6-Patience Drive – - 8/1 morning line odds
Patience Drive is 1-1-1 out of 3 races over an off-track. The Pulpit progeny is also 1-3-0 out of 5 races at the 7-furlong distance.
Patience Drive no doubt will be lost in the betting because it took her 7 races to break her maiden. Since then, however, she’s been pretty good finishing 2nd in an allowance and 3rd in a $60,000 stakes.
The mud improves her chances as does the fact that trainer Seth Benzel is 24% first time off of a layoff and Patience Drive hasn’t run since November of last year.
4-Ash Zee – - 2/1 morning line odds
Many feel that Ash Zee is going to take the lead in this race and just run on with it. Although that’s possible, there are some knocks against the morning line favorite.
First, she’s never run over an off-track and although she should be okay, she isn’t bred to absolutely love the mud. Second, she’s coming into this off of her maiden victory.
Finally, that maiden win occurred at Churchill Downs. The Twin Spires is a top-notch racetrack, yes, but the quality of those animals usually isn’t as good as what you find at Saratoga.
I believe Ash Zee gets over bet to win because of that maiden victory and the fact that Steve Asmussen trains her.
Horse Wagering Strategy
Happy Week looks like a solid bet in my mind. I’m going to bet Happy Week to win and place.
I will be an exacta with Happy Week over Ash Zee and Patience Drive. I will reverse the exacta for less.
Good luck!

East Cost Stakes Races – Grade I Coaching Club American Oaks and Grade II Sanford
July 24, 2010
The Saratoga meet is back! Although Rachel Alexandra runs in the Lady’s Secret at Monmouth Park this Saturday, plenty of attention will be paid to the horses taking the track in the Grade I Coaching Club American Oaks.
On Sunday, 2-year-olds get to show their best stuff in the Grade II Sanford. Let’s take a look at both highly prestigious horse races.

Purse $250,000. For Fillies Three-Years-Old.
1 1/8 miles over dirt
The Todd Pletcher trained Devil May Care is the 6 to 5 morning line chalk for a reason, but I’m going to bet against her. Seeking The Title came back from a terrible Acorn Stakes run where she got shuffled back and then had to go 7 wide to win the Grade III Iowa Oaks in splendid fashion. She just busted a terrific work over the Saratoga dirt on July 16th and should be ready to go in this race. The expected pace could set things up for her. For second Devil May Care is a logical choice. She’s too good of a filly to finish out of the top 3 and showed way more maturity in the Grade I Mother Goose when winning by 1 ¼ lengths than I believe even her connections thought she would. She’s a deserving favorite in this. For third, Acting Happy, who won the Grade II Black Eyed Susan as a 10 to 1 long shot, seems logical. Acting Happy is 2 and 2 out of 4 lifetime races and can lie in the garden spot before making a run to the finish line.

Sanford S. (Grade II)
Purse $150,000. For Two-Year-Olds.
6 furlongs over dirt
In a wide-open Sanford Stakes, it makes sense to bet on a horse with a price. That horse could be Commonwealth Rush. The Afleet Alex progeny won at first asking for trainer Tim Ice and is listed at 12 to 1 on the morning line. Although definitely fast, Commonwealth Rush should be able to break from the 8-hole and then settle behind an expected blistering pace. The 2-year old is worth a shot at those odds. It took Chipshot three races to break his maiden, but when he finally did, it became obvious that he’s capable of becoming the best 2-year-old colt in the nation. Chipshot might be the speed of the speed and trainer Steve Asmussen is awfully good with youngsters. Another Silver Oak had all sorts of issues in his maiden winning debut. Okay, maybe only one. He was fractious but, once he settled and got the lead, he pulled away in exemplary fashion. The Todd Pletcher trainee is out of Bluegrass Cat and has every right to develop further in the Sanford on Saturday.
Good luck!

Del Mar Racetrack – Best Bet at Del Mar on Saturday, July 24th, Occurs in Race 6
July 24, 2010
The Eddie Read is the main event on Del Mar’s first Saturday card of their meet, but the best horse betting race might be the preliminary event, the $75,000 Osunitas Stakes for the gals.
The Osunitas is Race 6 on the card. There are more choices to be found in Race 6 at Del Mar on Saturday then there is in Race 8. One of those choices in Race 6 is my Del Mar bet of the day.

1 1/16th miles over turf
pp.6-Fortunia – - 7/2 fair online betting odds
In a wide-open race, why not go for the shipper? Fortunia comes to Del Mar after losing to Wasted Tears by only a neck in the Grade III Ouija Board Handicap. She is 2-2-0 out of 6 lifetime races and the fact that Cash Asmussen, from the training family that is the Asmussens, saddles her should give horseplayers confidence. She also brings her jockey with her, can lay close to a soft pace or come from 7 lengths out of it, and might be classier than the rest of these. She’s the pick.
pp.10-Lilly Fa Pootz – - 4/1 fair online sports betting odds
Lilly Fa Pootz has 2 victories and 3 second place finishes in her last 5 races. Breaking from the 10-hole will not help her cause but she always fires and has 7 lifetime victories. The daughter of Gilded Time figures to track the speed about 2 to 3 lengths off before making her usual run to the finish line. Who knows? Maybe, she gets there first.
pp.8 – Conniption – - 4/1 morning line odds
There appears to be enough speed in this to set up the Simon Callaghan trained Conniption. The daughter of Danehill Dancer has made steady progress since arriving to the states from Great Britain in April. Callaghan has put 3 races into the 3-year-old filly and although she failed miserably in the Grade I American Oaks in her last, finishing 6th and losing by 8 lengths, she is plenty talented enough to handle this field.
Horse Wagering Strategy
This is a wide-open race. That’s why I believe the odds on Fortunia are going to be excellent. I am going to place a big win bet on Fortunia and then play a small exacta keying Fortunia over Lilly Fa Pootz, Conniption, the Jerry Hollendorfer trained U R All That I Am and long shot Value Stream. I will reverse for less.
Good luck!

West Cost Stakes Races – Grade I Eddie Read and Grade II San Clemente
July 24, 2010
Del Mar really kicks it into gear this weekend with the Grade I Eddie Read and the Grade II San Clemente.
The Eddie Read is considered one of the best grass races of the summer. It also marks the return of The Usual Q.T. who ran off 5 straight victories over the Del Mar and Santa Anita lawns last summer and fall.
Let’s take a look at both the Grade I Eddie Read and the Grade II San Clemente.

1 1/8 miles over turf
Both Acclamation and The Usual Q.T. are in this race. Although The Usual Q.T. doesn’t need the lead to win, he can’t let Acclamation get away with soft fractions up front or he’ll never be able to run him down. If the two get into a speed duel, the door should open up for Crowded House. The Brian Meehan trainee gets the rail, where jockey Tyler Baze can save ground, and has run against much, much tougher in his career. If he’s anywhere close to being at his best, he should beat this field by open lengths. For second, Loup Breton is the logical pick.
Like Crowded House, he’s going to need Acclamation and The Usual Q.T. to really go after each other. If that happens, the Julio Canani closer has a shot at winning on Saturday. Out of the two speed horses, the one most likely to hang on for the victory is The Usual Q.T. I’m not sure if Acclamation is going to come back and run as well in SoCal as he did before he took a trip to Monmouth and got pummeled in the United Nations Handicap. The Usual Q.T. is the better horse in my mind.
- Crowded House
- Loup Breton

San Clemente H. (Grade II)
Purse $150,000. For Fillies, Three-Year-Olds.
1 mile over turf
Evening Jewel will go off as a vulnerable short-priced favorite in the San Clemente on Sunday. The brilliant winner of the Grade I Ashland earlier this year won the Grade II Honeymoon over the Hollywood turf course by only a head as a 90 cents to the dollar favorite. There is a lot of other speed in this for the front-runner to deal with. I prefer the John Sadler trained Switch in this situation. Switch goes first time on the turf for Sadler but has been training beautifully over the surface. She picks up jockey Martin Garcia, is bred to love the sod, and should be going off at a square price. I believe that It Tiz is good enough to step up to this grade two and win it. The daughter of Tiznow is 2 for 2 on the turf and 2 for 2 at this distance. She should be able to lay 3 to 4 lengths off of the pace before making her run. Weekend Magic is the only real presser/closer type in this group. If the pace unfolds the way I expect it to, she’s not without a shot for the victory.
- Switch
- It Tiz
- Weekend Magic

Hollywood Park – Best Bet on July 16th is in Race 6
July 17, 2010
Race 6 at Hollywood Park on Friday is an Allowance 40000s with the type of specific conditions that should benefit my Hollywood play of the day.
My pick should keep her odds because the 2 in the race, Westwood Pride, beat her in both of their last races.

Hollywood Park – Friday
Allowance 40000s

1 mile over turf
pp.5 Sheeza Beast – - 3/1 fair horse betting odds
Trainer Mike Mitchell is winning at a 37% clip at the meet. Sheeza Beast helped that percentage in May when breaking her maiden going 1 1/16th miles over the cushion track.
About 4 weeks later she showed up at this level and on the turf going 1 1/16th miles. She went 3 wide and lost by a neck at the wire.
It was an exceptional race first time against winners.
Considering that jockey Tyler Baze stays, and Mitchell wins at a 33% clip second time on the grass, Sheeza Beast figures to be the best bet to win the 6th at Hollywood Park on Friday night.
pp.2 Westwood Pride – - 3/1 fair horse betting odds
Westwood Pride will most likely be a short-priced favorite in the 6th at Hollywood on Friday night. She should be after finishing 2nd, and beating Sheeza Beast, in her last.
Westwood Pride might be the lone speed in the field, keeps superman jockey Rafael Bejarano, and should improve slightly off of that 2nd place finish. If she does, they might take her picture after this race.
pp.6 Melbisha – - 5/1 fair horse betting odds
Melbisha stretches out and goes first time on the turf for trainer Neil French.
That’s not exactly a winning move for French but Joel Rosario is a great jockey and Melbisha has enough turf breeding to suggest that she might make an impact on Friday night. Melbisha has a victory and 4 second place finishes in her last 5 races.
Other Horses to Use
pp.1 Mystery Bird – - Broke her maiden in impressive fashion at first asking, stretches out on the turf, and keep jockey Joe Talamo.
Horse Wagering Strategy
Sheeza Beast looks very tough in this spot. I’m going to bet her to win. I will bet an exacta with Sheeza Beast over Westwood Pride. I will reverse the exacta for less.
I will bet a trifecta keying pp.5-Sheeza Beast with pp.1 Mystery Bird, pp.2-Westwood Pride, pp.6-Melbisha with pp.1-Mystery Bird pp.2-Westwood Pride pp.6-Melbisha.
I will bet another trifecta keying pp.1-Mystery Bird pp.2-Westwood Pride pp.6-Melbisha with pp.5-Sheeza Beast with pp.1-Mystery Bird pp.2-Westwood Pride pp.6-Melbisha.

Paddy O’Prado, Interactif Battle in Virginia Derby
July 17, 2010
They could not cut it on the Triple Crown Trail, but Interactif and Stately Victor will attempt to follow in the footsteps of Paddy O’Prado and show they belong back on turf in Saturday’s $600,000 Virginia Derby (G2) at Colonial Downs.
The Dale Romans trainee Paddy O’Prado bounced back from as sixth place finish in the Preakness Stakes (G1) with a sharp score in the Colonial Turf Cup (G2), his first start on turf since winning the Palm Beach (G3) at Gulfstream Park in March.
[Off topic: by the way, do you want to get a 60% bonus on your first deposit here at BetOnline? So go on JOIN NOW.]
Interactif will try to bounce back from a seventh place finish in the Belmont Stakes (G1), while Stately Victor was eighth in both the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes in his last two outings.
The Virginia Derby is one of five turf stakes races on the marathon 14-race card at Colonial Downs, the biggest card in the history of the New Kent. Va. track.
Here is a quick look at the five stakes, which make up an All Stakes Pick 5.
Race 8 The $50,000 Chenery
The first leg of the Pick 5 may be the trickiest. This race features ten two-year-olds and only one of them has won on grass, and three of these are making their debuts.
The edge goes to Happytheman, who makes his turf debut here for the John Salzman barn. The colt dueled for the early lead and weakened to finish sixth last out in the Par Four at Delaware Park. The colt is out of a mare that has dropped four other winners, one on turf, and dropped Danthebluegrassman, an earner of $423,794.
Selections: Happytheman – Z Appeal – The Flying Whizzer
Race 9 The $50,000 Tippet
A field of ten two-year-old fillies will go 5 ½ furlongs on the turf course, and only three in the field have even run on turf.
Molly Mingun was a good looking maiden winner in her debut, and the effort was flattered when Valiant Star came back to break her maiden in her next outing on June 20 by 13 lengths. She has about as good a turf pedigree as any in this field.
Valiant Star was much the best in her maiden win in her second career start, but she did not beat much. Cherry Road may move forward with a race under her belt for a low profile barn and will be a generous price She has one sib that has one win on turf.
Selections: Molly Mingun – Valiant Star – Cherry Road
Race 10 The Kitten’s Joy
Target Sighted is 20/1 on the morning line and figures to move forward in his second start off a seven-month layoff. The gelding had some trouble in his comeback race in the Da Hoss. The gelding had to steady when bumped around the 7/8’s mark and finished with some interest for fifth. He won his first two starts on turf, both stakes against Maryland breds.
Selections: Target Sighted – Vanquisher – Pleasant Strike
Race 11 Virginia Oaks (G3)
Check the Label comes into Colonial Downs off wins in the Appalachian (G3) and the Sands Point (G2) and looks imposing as the 7/5 morning line favorite.
An intriguing runner that might pull off the upset is Midway Holiday, who has not been on turf since winning her first two career starts. She was fifth in her stakes debut, which was the off the turf Mardi Gras at Fair Grounds.
She then made a mild late run to finish third over the polytrack at Turfway in the Bourbonette (G3), and last out she was an impressive winner at Churchill Downs beating up on second level allowance foes in another race taken off the turf. She may appreciate the return to turf and figures to be a generous price in this spot.
Selections: Midway Holiday – Check the Label – Martita Sangrita
Race 12 Virginia Derby (G2)
The marquee event of the Colonial Downs meeting looks like a match up between Colonial Turf Cup (G2) winner Paddy O’ Prado and Interactif, who is looking to rebound off a seventh place finish in the Belmont Stakes (G1).
While Paddy O’Prado figures to be close to even money, Interactif appears to be the value of the race. The Todd Pletcher trainee has a couple of Grade 3 wins on his resume on turf and has not run a bad on the weeds in four trips. He finished behind the likely favorite in the Blue Grass (G1), but that was on polytrack.
Paddy O’Prado bounced back off a sixth place finish in the Preakness Stakes (G1) with a good looking win in the Colonial Turf Cup. It was his first start on turf since taking the Palm Beach at Gulfstream Park back in March.
The colt is trained by Dale Romans, who took the 2004 running of this race with Kitten’s Joy.
The son of El Prado looks as if he will be very tough to beat if he runs back to his last couple of starts on turf, but at even money or 6/5, the price is just going to be on the light side.
Selections: Interactif – Paddy O’ Prado – Krypton
Looking for more action on the turf?
At Arlington Park, there is a trio of grass stakes on Arlington Million Preview Day, the $150,000 Modesty Handicap (G3), $150,000 Arlington Handicap (G3), and the $200,000 American Derby (G2).
At Belmont Park, a field of seven goes in the 27th running of the $200,000 Jaipur (G3), a six furlong turf sprint that drew a field of seven.
East Cost Stakes Races – Grade II American Derby and Grade II Virginia Derby

$200,000 Grade II American Derby
For Three-Year-Olds
1 3/16th miles over turf
This wide open race is ripe for an upsetter. That upsetter could be Marcello who goes first time for trainer Wayne Catalano. Catalano is winning at a 27% clip at the Arlington Park meet. He’s also 35% with horses running for him for the first time. Marcello gets terrific turf jock Corey Nakatani to take the call. If Catalano moves Marcello up at all, he’s got a shot in this race. For second, Dream Nettie could provide the bottom half of a huge overlaid exacta. Dream Nettie has the ability to stay close to the speed if need be and comes out of the Grade III Will Rogers where, although he finished 5th, ran the type of race that makes him a contender in this. Dean’s Kitten was last seen chasing Paddy O’Prado in the Grade II Colonial Turf Cup. The Michael Maker trainee picks up jockey Rafael Bejarano. That’s enough to make him a serious contender.

Outer Turf For Three-Year-Olds
1 1/4 miles over turf
It’s hard to look past Paddy O’Prado even though he’s the likely 4 to 5 or even 3 to 5 choice in this. O’Prado was sensational in his return to the turf in the Grade II Colonial Turf Cup. He towers over this field and should win this race easily. Jockey Kent Desormeaux rarely makes a mistake in a race meaning that O’Prado should cross the finish line first no matter what the pace is like. Two Notch Road could add value on the bottom half of the exacta. He figures to get the lead from the inside post and although Krypton is fast and could challenge for the lead, jockey Rajiv Maragh has a tendency to take back if he faces other speed on the turf. Interactif looked like a winner near the stretch in the Grade I Belmont Stakes in his last. He’s just not a good enough horse to beat those. He should be competitive in this, however.
1. Paddy O’Prado
2. Two Notch Road
3. Interactif

Hollywood Park Late Pick 4 – July 16th

Race 5 (Leg 1)
$25,000 Maiden Claiming
For Maidens, Three-Years-Old And Upward
6 furlongs over cushion track
Horses Used: pp.7-Aeromon, pp.9-Gold Schleiger
Horse Betting Analysis: Aeromon ran too good to lose last time when chasing front-running Conagher.
Aeromon ended up finishing 2nd by 2 ¾ lengths. Jockey Rafael Bejarano won’t make the mistake that Alex Gonzalez did. Expect Bejarano to take Aeromon directly to the front.
Gold Schleiger will either track or duel with Aeromon for the lead. Either way, the Jeff Mullins trainee has a good shot at pulling off the upset.
Race 6 (Leg 2)
Allowance 40000s
For Fillies And Mares Three-Years-Old And Upward Which Have Broken Their Maidens For A Claiming Price Of $40,000 Or Less Or Cal Bred Or Sired Horses Which Have Broken Their Maidens For $50,000 Or Less And Which Have Never Won Two Races
1 mile over turf
Horses Used: pp.2-Westwood Pride, pp.5-Sheeza Beast
Analysis: Westwood Pride could get the lead all to herself in this.
If Rafael Bejarano rations her speed, she’s going to be tough to beat. She’s coming out of a race where she finished 2nd. Sheeza Beast finished 3rd in that very same race.
She should improve greatly as trainer Mike Mitchell is 33% second time on the turf. Sheeza Beast will sit in the garden spot and then try to overtake Westwood Pride at the top of the stretch.
Race 7 (Leg 3)
State Bred Allowance $43,000n$y
For California Bred Or California Sired Fillies and Mares Three-Years-Old And Upward Which Have Never Won $10,000 Other Than Maiden, Claiming, Or Starter Or Which Have Never Won Two Races
6½ furlongs over cushion track
Horses Used: pp.2-Warren’s Got Game, pp.3-Tenacious Tina, pp.4-Missdealornodeal, pp.6-Can’t Topper, pp.7-Saltendipity
Analysis: What a wide-open race! Tenacious Tina, Missdealornodeal and Can’t Topper will all be running either on the lead or right off.
If they go too fast, then expect Warren’s Got Game and Saltendipity to pick up the pieces. All 5 of the horses I use in this leg have run similar speed ratings making it virtually impossible to decide on which horse will show up on Friday night.
This is a classic “jockey’s” race. Leave someone out at your own peril!
Race 8 (Leg 3)
State Bred $42,000 Maiden Special Weight
For California Bred Or California Sired Maidens, Three-Years-Old And Upward
1 1/16th miles over turf
Horses Used: pp.2-Lodi Red, pp.6-Thermal Wave, pp.7-Papa Lev
Analysis: Lodi Red ran close to the pace but couldn’t quite get there finishing 2nd at this level in his second start over the turf. He figures in this race.
Thermal Wave has finished 3rd in his last 2 races at this level. He’s coming off of a short freshening.
Maybe, the 6-week vacation has done him some good. Papa Lev finished 3rd in his last. That was the same race where Lodi Red finished 2nd. Papa Lev ran very, very well in that and it was only his 2nd lifetime race.
He’ll have every chance to cross the finish line first on Friday night.
Others to Consider
Race 6 – - pp.1-Mystery Bird, pp.6-Melbisha
Race 8 – - pp.1-Dontmesroundwitjim, pp.7-Tribal Nation
2 x 2 x 5 x 3 = 60 combinations
$1 Pick 4 = $60

July 17, 2010
Sidney’s Candy, the second choice in the Kentucky Derby in May, returns to the comfortable confines of Hollywood Park this Saturday in the Grade II Swaps Stakes.

$150,000 A Gleam Handicap
For Fillies And Mares Three-Years-Old And Upward
7 furlongs over cushion track
I’m not even going to look for a long shot in this race. Free Flying Soul should absolutely romp all over this field. The Hollywood Park cushion track has favored speed in sprints and Free Flying Soul already put a beat down on the only other front-runner in this, Moon De French. Soul should hang right off of that one and then take over at the top of the stretch. Moon De French will win the A Gleam if Free Flying Soul’s jockey, Mike Smith, doesn’t press her from the outset. The Bob Baffert trainee is very quick but doesn’t have the lungs that Free Flying Soul does. Still, with an easy lead, she’ll be long gone. Emmy Darling might not be good enough to beat Free Flying Soul, but the fact that Joel Rosario rides gives her a chance to at least finish in the top 3. She’s worth a look if horseplayers don’t believe in Free Flying Soul or Moon De French.

Sidney’s Candy is definitely going to be over bet in this spot. Although I like Sidney’s Candy, I can’t endorse him over Twirling Candy. Sidney’s half-brother stretches out for the first time, but he’s been sensational in 2 lifetime races and should get the perfect trip behind his more famous bro. He could easily track his brother and then take over and run off with this. Sidney’s Candy shouldn’t finish worse than 2 nd in this race unless they go too fast up front. He beat Preakness winner Lookin’ At Lucky in the Santa Anita Derby before losing all chance in the Kentucky Derby after breaking from the 20 th hole. He deserves to be the favorite in the 2010 Swaps Stakes. Skipshot should be in 3 rd place heading for home as the two top choices continue to duel to the wire. He isn’t quite good enough to beat the other two, but he deserves some respect in this and should definitely be in position to grab the show money.
Good luck!

British Open Weekend Preview
July 16, 2010
After Thursday’s opening round at the British Open that saw several players shoot in the mid-60’s, it was back to business as usual at St. Andrews in Scotland, much to the dismay of golf betting fans everywhere.
Thursday’s brisk, mild, unseasonal weather was replaced with what we’ve come to expect at the Open Championship, whipping wind and harsh conditions that forced a stoppage of play early in the afternoon.

And while the opening round was a day of record setting scores, we saw none of that Friday, as many golfers came back down to earth.
After two full rounds our leader in the club house is the unlikeliest of names, South Africa’s Louis Oosthuzien who shot a Friday best 67 to find him at -12 through two rounds.
The 27-year-old has never won a PGA tournament, and has made just one cut in a major, at the 2008 PGA Championship.
Falling in line behind Oosthuzien is American Mark Calcaveccheia who shot a 67 as well, after an opening round 70. Three Brits, Paul Casey, Lee Westwood and Steven are at -5.
On the opposite side of the things, Thursday’s leader, 21-year-old Rory McIlroy could do little to reclaim the magic that saw him tie a major record by shooting a 63 in the opening round.
McIlroy- who went out in the afternoon, at the height of the brutal Scottish weather- finished his day with a miserable +8, 80, which now puts him 11 strokes off Oosthuzien.
As for the rest of the notables, U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell shot a solid 68 on Friday to find himself at -5, while world No. 1 Tiger Woods shot a +1, 73, and is now eight shots off the lead at -4.
Amongst the notables who are expected to miss the projected cut of +1 are 2010 PGA Tour money leader Ernie Els, who shot a +7, 79 on Friday, as well as two-time Open Championship winner Padraig Harrington, who will leave St. Andrews at +6.
On Saturday course conditions are expected to be much the same as they were Friday, with rain and high wind expected, with temperatures in the mid-50’s.
That is certainly a factor for golf wagering fans to keep in mind when make their wagers.
With play suspended because of darkness on Friday, a handful of players still have to finish their second rounds, meaning that Saturday tee-times have not yet been established.
The leaders are expected to hit the course sometime around 5 p.m. local time, which is 12 p.m. EST.
Tune in for coverage all weekend long, and remember, it’s never too late to your British Open golf bets in!
