3 Game Parlay – BCS Championship, NBA and NCAA Hoops

January 7, 2010

One of the advantages of betting through BetOnline is being able to use the online sportsbook.

The website is user friendly which allows gamblers to quickly pick which wagers they want to make.  It also allows gamblers to put together cross-sports parlays effortlessly.

Let’s take a look at a good 3 Team Parlay tonight.

NCAAB:  Michigan Wolverines vs. Penn State Nittany Lions

Tip-off:  7:00 pm EST

NCAAB Odds:  Penn State -2

Analysis:  The Penn State Nittany Lions haven’t played as well as some basketball fans predicted they would so far this season.  The Nittany Lions are 8 and 6 straight up and 3 and 6 against the spread.

Michigan hasn’t done that much better this season with a 7 and 6 straight-up record and their own 3 and 6 record ATS.  Michigan did, however, beat Ohio State in their last game.  The Buckeyes are arguably the third best team in the Big Ten after Michigan State and Purdue.

Two telling trends are that the Wolverines are 5 and 2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. the Big Ten and that Penn State is 1 and 4 against the spread in their last 5 games as a favorite at home, but in a game like this, do trends really mean that much?

The big question to me is whether or not Penn State’s home court advantage will come into play in this.  I think it will.  Both teams aren’t that good and Michigan is coming off of a huge victory.  They should get back to playing sloppy basketball against the Nittany Lions.

Winning Pick:  Penn State -2

NBA:  Charlotte Bobcats vs. New York Knicks

Tip-off:  7:35 pm EST

NBA Odds:  New York -3 ½, Total 199

Analysis:  Most of the trends point to Charlotte covering the spread in this game.  The Bobcats are 6 and 1 ATS in their last 7 road games.  They are also 5 and 1 ATS in their last 6 games with 1 day of rest.

The New York Knicks are 1 and 4 against the spread in their last 5 games after an ATS victory.  The Knicks are also 2 and 9 ATS in their last 11 games versus a team from the NBA Southeast Division.

Charlotte is hot.  They’ve won three straight games including beating Cleveland on the road straight-up 91 to 88 as 11 ½ point underdogs.  Does Charlotte have another terrific game in them?  When your coach is Larry Brown, you could string together way more than three great games.

I’m going with Charlotte.

Winning Pick:  Charlotte +3 ½

BCS National Championship Game – Texas Longhorns vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

Kick-off:  8:35 pm EST

College Bowl Odds:  Alabama -4

Analysis:  I just don’t understand how anybody could bet against Alabama in this game.

‘Bama played in a tougher conference.  They beat better teams than Texas and Texas’s defense, although brilliant against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Big 12 title game, can give up yards and points.

The key in this game is ‘Bama QB Greg McElroy.  He’s really come into his own in the second half of this season.  His game against Florida was exceptional.  If McElroy can find Julio Jones and Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram can keep the Texas defense honest, then I just don’t see Alabama not putting up at least 24 points in this game.

On the flip side of that, is ‘Bama’s defense which should be able to keep Texas QB Colt McCoy from beating them with either his arm or his legs.  Texas doesn’t run the ball very well outside of McCoy.  Stop McCoy and you stop the Texas offense.

The wagering line opened at 5, then went all the way down to 3 ½ and is now at 4.  I still like Alabama in this.

Winning Pick: Alabama -4
