Ball in Bartolo Colon’s Hands – White Sox at Orioles

April 24, 2009

The Chicago White Sox (8-6 SU, 8-6 RL, 7-7 O/U) and the Baltimore Orioles (7-8 SU, 8-7 RL, 12-3 O/U) will both be trying to pick up a win in the BetOnline Sportsbook when they battle at Camden Yards tonight at 7 PM ET.

The White Sox spanked the Orioles 8-2 on Wednesday as Josh Fields smacked a two-run homer and drove in three runs to help Chicago cover the Run Line as a -105 pick’em. While the game’s 10 total runs played just Over the 9-run O/U total.

Chris Getz went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored for the White Sox while starter John Danks pitched seven innings for the win, allowing just one run on four hits.

Luke Scott homered for the Orioles, while starting pitcher Jeremy Guthrie gave up five runs on eight hits over six innings to get tagged with the loss.

The White Sox will hand the ball to veteran right-hander Bartolo Colon (1-0, 3.86 ERA) while the Orioles counter with right-hander Adam Eaton (0-2, 11.25 ERA).

Colon was charged with five runs in 5.2 innings in a 6-5 loss to Tampa Bay on Friday while Eaton was smacked around for six runs in four innings of a 6-4 loss to Boston on Saturday.

Here is a look at tonight’s key trends, followed by my in-depth analysis and MLB Free Pick.

The White Sox are 5-0 in Colons last 5 starts on grass.

The White Sox are 4-0 in Colons last 4 starts with the total set at 9.0-10.5.

The Orioles are 7-3 in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600.

The Orioles are 11-23 in their last 34 home games.

The Over is 5-0 in Colons last 5 starts vs. a team with a losing record.

The Over is 5-0 in Orioles last 5 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.

The Over is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings in Baltimore.

MLB Odds

Chicago White Sox -1½ +135

Bartolo Colon –R -110

Baltimore Orioles +1½ -155

Adam Eaton –R -110

Over 10½ -115

Under 10½ -105

Analysis: I’ll keep this pick short and sweet for BetOnline MLB sports betting members by simply saying that I fully expect the White Sox to bash the mediocre Adam Easton’s brains in by the time the fifth inning rolls around.

While Bartolo Colon was also rocked in his last start, I think he gets back on track by taming the Orioles tonight as Chicago wins and covers the Run Line.
