Bet on NASCAR – Is JJ a Good Bet to Finish in the Top 3 at the LifeLock.com 400?
July 10, 2010
Jimmie’s been on fire lately when winning 2 out of the last 3 Sprint Cup races. He’s the favorite heading to the Chicagoland Speedway for the LifeLock.com 400.
JJ should definitely be considered for a win, but is he a good bet, based on the NASCAR odds in the sportsbook to finish in the Top 3 at Chicagoland?

Top 3
Best NASCAR Bet A: Jeff Gordon +225
Gordo’s been both great at finishing in the Top 5 in 2010 and at finishing in the Top 5 at Chicagoland. So far, Jeff has 9 Top 5 finishes in 2010. He hasn’t won a race yet, but that’s okay because in order to cash with this bet all Jeff has to do is finish in the Top 3. His Top 5 finishes at Chicagoland, 5, and his average finish at the track, 9.2, means that he should be very close to a Top 3 finish on Saturday. At the odds, he’s a good NASCAR bet.
Best NASCAR Bet B: Tony Stewart +400
Tony’s 2010 hasn’t been nearly as good as expected after he had such a great 2009, but he’s not driving horribly at this point in the season. Smoke has finished in the Top 5 4 times this year. More importantly, he’s finished in the Top 5 7 times at Chicagoland. 2 of those Top 5 finishes turned out to be victories. At the +400 odds in the NASCAR sportsbook, Smoke has to be considered for a wager to finish in the Top 3 in this race.
Best Underdog NASCAR Wager: Mark Martin +800
Martin hasn’t had a very good 2010 with no victories, but he has finished in the Top 5 five times this year. Not only that, but he did win this race in 2009 and eventually he’s going to kick it into gear. So, Martin is the best underdog bet to finish in the Top 3 at Chicagoland on Saturday night. The +800 NASCAR odds just can’t be ignored.
Others to Consider
Jimmie Johnson Ev – - He has every right to not only finish in the Top 3 but also to win this race, but I’m not happy about the odds.
Kyle Busch +150 – - The odds are low on Kyle but he’s had success at Chicagoland before.
Denny Hamlin +150 – - Past history says he has no shot at Chicagoland, but I have to disagree. Denny is a legitimate bet to both win and finish in the Top 3 every week. The man is driving as well as anybody on the track right now.
Kevin Harvick +325 – - Harvick’s definitely in the running for both the victory and a Top 3 finish. He has 2 victories at Chicagoland and an average finish of 8.7 on the track. He also won last week. The man could be tough in this.
