Make a Horse Racing Bet to Win Saratoga

Is Calvin Borel finally on equine at the Spa that might be a good horse racing bet? The Kentucky Derby winning jockey hasn’t had the greatest time of his life at the Saratoga Meet.  His mounts have won only 3 out of 46.  He hasn’t been able to use his rail racing techniques in races on the dirt and he’s appeared almost dumbfounded in races on the turf.

But he’s got a great shot of winning the Grade III Victory Ride Stakes on Saturday aboard Beyondallboundarys, a 4/1 shot that should get the perfect setup for her style in Race 9 at the Spa.

Not only is Beyondallboundarys 3 for 3 at the 6 furlong distance, but the Tom Amoss trainee has the ability to rate about 2 lengths off of the pace. That will come in handy in the Victory Ride Stakes since there appears to be at least three horses looking to take the lead in this.  Borel’s issues at Saratoga might actually work into horseplayers’ hands as it’s obvious that Beyondallboundarys would be no better than a 3/1 morning line horse racing bet to win if Borel was winning with at least 14% of his mounts.  Instead, Calvin’s only winning at 7%.  Nobody jumps on Borel and Beyondallboundarys gets lost in the betting…sound like a good plan to me!

1-Kid Kate – - 5/1 morning line odds

I’ve been watching jockey Edgar Prado for years and simply put, he’s one of the best in the world.  He finds himself aboard a closer in a race full of speed.  He also finds himself on the rail.  That’s not a bad position to be in for a guy like Prado who handicaps pace in a race as well as anybody.  Oh, yes, Kid Kate’s trainer, Chad Brown, is winning at a 37% clip at the current meet.  Don’t be surprised if Prado muscles this gal home at overlaid odds in the Grade III Victory Ride.

9-Katy Now – - 7/2 morning line odds

The Bob Baffert trained Rapport is the speedster that will go off as the chalk in this, but Katy Now is just as fast.  Trainer Todd Pletcher is having another solid Saratoga meet winning with 24 out of 84 horses saddled.  That’s a 29% win percentage making Katy Now a serious threat to run Rapport into the ground and then to keep on going.  I do believe that the daughter of Tiznow will pass Rapport in the stretch but holding off Beyondallboundarys and Kid Kate might be difficult to do.

Horse Wagering Strategy

Beyondallboundarys looks like a solid play at the odds.  I will bet on her to win.

I will also bet an exacta with Beyondallboundarys over Kid Kate and Katy Now.  I will reverse for less.  I will bet a trifecta keying Beyondallboundarys, Kid Kate with Beyondallboundarys, Kid Kate, Katy Now, with ALL.
