Marseille Open 13 Quick Betting Picks: Soderling and Youzhny in action
February 17, 2010
Marseille, France – The Marseille Open is one of a trio of ATP events on the BetOnline tennis betting menu this week. The tournament already underway, there are several standout matches scheduled for tomorrow, namely Mikhail Youzhny, the Rotterdam runner-up, taking on French wild card Guillaume Rufin and Robin Soderling, the Rotterdam champion, beginning his tournament with a second round encounter (received a BYE) against Sergiy Stakhovsky amongst several others.
Here is a look at the developing market on the Marseille Open 13 at BetOnline.
Tennis Betting Line:
Guillaume Rufin +4½ -105 +300 21 O -110 U -130
Mikhail Youzhny -4½ -135 -500 21 O -110 U -130
First Set Line: Guillaume Rufin +275 Mikhail Youzhny -450
Match Time: 02:45 PM Eastern Time Wednesday February 17, 2010
Tennis Betting Verdict: Youzhny is after an impressive run in Rotterdam, wherein he finished runner-up. Significantly, he beat the World No.2 Novak Djokovic in the semis. On the back of that performance, Youzhny’s stock has seen a rise in the markets. He enters the Open 13 with a 6-2 mark on the season and a brand new ranking of World No.15. Youzhny has been on a positive trend since the fall of last season and he comes into this event with all the momentum on his side.
Rufin, 19, is a French hopeful that enters this tournament on a wild card. He is only 1-2 on the season and with little experience in the big league. He will have crowd support, which counts for something but I don’t feel it will be enough to assume he would beat Youzhny.
Therefore, Youzhny to win the first set at -450 and the match at -500 would appear to be good plays. Youzhny backers looking for added value might like Youzhny to cover the spread at -4 ½ -135. It is the favoured outcome in the market. Rufin might account well, and therefore he would appear a tempting play to cover the spread at + 4 ½ -105, but sometimes even though a player plays well, the score doesn’t reflect it. I think this will be the case here, making the Under 21 -110 the better play.
Tennis Free Picks: Youzhny in straight sets
Tennis Betting Line: Robin Soderling -1200 Sergiy Stakhovsky +600
First Set Line: Robin Soderling -700 Sergiy Stakhovsky +400
Match Time: 05:00 AM Eastern Time Thursday February 18, 2010
Tennis Betting Verdict: Robin Soderling turned around his season in Rotterdam when he won the title. Prior to Rotterdam, Soderling boasted a two-match losing streak. Apparently, an injured elbow was to blame for his poor results in January. Well, he healed nicely as he elbowed his way to the title. Understandably, Soderling come in as the -1200 favourite to win outright and the -700 to take the first set. Most assume he will continue on the momentum wave he showed in Rotterdam and as such, he is considered the sure play. Moreover, there is little to suggest Stakhovsky would mastermind the upset.
Tennis Free Picks: Soderling in straights sets
