MLB Betting Free Picks – Milwaukee Brewers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

April 20, 2010

It’s not that sweeping the Reds is a glorious achievement, but the fact that Pittsburgh Pirates could sweep anybody stands as a moral victory in and of itself. The hard nosed Pirates have been grinding out close games since the start of the season, and it’s made for an exciting product to bet on with the moneyline. They may not be able to keep this kind of effort up all season. Heck, they may not be able to keep it up on Tuesday night.

Dave Bush will take to the mound for the second time against his home town team this season. Milwaukee has won its last five games in Pittsburgh when Bush started, and he’s earned two of those victories. Maybe it’s a reverse-jinx of sorts, since Bush is from Pittsburgh. Overall, Bush is 1-2 SU with a 5.20 ERA against the Pirates.

Milwaukee Brewers (5-7) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates (7-5)

Tuesday, April 20th — PNC Park — 7:05pm EST

MLB Betting Line:

Dave Bush – R -1.5 +130 -120 O 9.0 EV
Charlie Morton – R +1.5 -150 EV U 9.0 -120

Charlie Morton will get the nod for the Pirates, and he’s probably the last guy you want to see on the mound if you were itching to take the Pirates on the money. He’s been getting beaten up like disorderly 1940’s housewife in his last two starts. He gave up eight runs in 3 1/3 innings against Arizona, and then allowed three homers for six runs against the Giants.

Where To Watch: WMLW, FSPI

I know that Morton won’t be in the game long, but the lead he gives the Brewers will be too hard to overcome for a grizzly Pirates team. Dave Bush has been decent when grasping the seams against Pittsburgh and that’s all you need to be when you’re opponent is Dave Bush.

Safe bets are on the moneyline, but if you’re feeling saucy, take the Pirates run-line as they play catch-up thanks to the idiocy of Morton.
