NBA Matchup Nuggets @ Mavericks
December 15, 2008
The Denver Nuggets (16-7 SU, 14-8-1 ATS, 13-10 O/U) have won three straight games in the BetOnline Sportsbook and eight of their last ten overall.
The Dallas Mavericks (13-9 SU, 9-13 ATS, 10-12 O/U) have won two consecutive games and eight of their last ten overall.
Tonight, both teams will look to extend their respective winning streak when the teams battle at American Airlines Center.
The Nuggets are coming off an emphatic 123-105 win over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday and have taken off since acquiring veteran point guard Chauncey Billups, going an impressive 15-4 since the former NBA Finals MVP arrived for high-volume shooter Allen Iverson.
Carmelo Anthony led the Nuggets with 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field.
"I thought he did a great job of being patient, letting other guys open the floor up for him, and he struck again," said Billups, who finished with 16 points and 11 assists in the win. "He’s capable of having big nights, and it doesn’t take 48 minutes. His patience was great."
The Mavericks are coming off a solid 103-99 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday, getting a season-high 46 points from Dirk Nowitzki on 17-for-30 shooting from the field while Jason Terry added 28 points on 13-for-21 shooting off the bench.
"The basket just looked big," Nowitzki said after recording the ninth 40-point game of his career. "I kept being aggressive and looking for my shot."
"Dirk does it all the time," said Terry. "He got into a rhythm and got into the paint. When he does that, it’s going to be a big night."

Analysis: While I absolutely love the Denver Nuggets’ addition of Chauncey Billups and think the Nuggets are going to be a very tough opponent come playoff time, I like the improving Dallas Mavericks to win and cover the spread narrowly tonight as they will likely raise the level of their collective play for this big home matchup.
