NBA Playoff Parlay – Orlando Magic vs. Philadelphia 76ers

April 25, 2009

The Orlando Magic (60-24 SU, 49-34-1 ATS, 37-47 O/U) and Philadelphia 76ers (42-42 SU, 38-44-2 ATS, 40-40-4 O/U) will both be gunning for a victory in the BetOnline Sportsbook when they square off at the Wachovia Center in the third game of their first-round playoff series tonight at 8 PM ET.

The Magic evened the series at one game apiece by beating Philadelphia 96-87 in Game 2 on Wednesday, though they failed to cover the spread as 10.5-point home favorites just like I predicted in the BetOnline Locker Room that day.

Rookie shooting guard Courtney Lee led six Orlando players in double figure scoring with a team-high 24 while all-star center Dwight Howard added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Veteran point guard Andre Miller scored a game-high 30 points and hauled down seven rebounds in a losing effort while the final score played Under the 193.5-point O/U total.

Here is a look at tonight’s key trends, followed by my in-depth analysis and NBA Free Picks.

The Magic are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite of 0.5-4.5.

The Magic are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a road favorite of 0.5-4.5.

The 76ers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. NBA Southeast.

The 76ers are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games as a home underdog of 0.5-4.5.

The Magic are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Philadelphia.

The Underdog is 25-11 ATS in the last 36 meetings.

The Road team is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings.

NBA Odds

Orlando Magic -3½ -110

Philadelphia 76ers +3½ -110

Over 191 -110

Under 191 -110

Analysis: While Game 2 in this series played Under the 193-point O/U total, I really like Orlando and Philadelphia to combine to top the spread tonight as Philadelphia gets its up-tempo offense in gear as they are fueled by their home fans.

As far as the ATS outcome of this contest is concerned, I like the Orlando Magic to cover the spread narrowly with the outright road win. Despite failing to cover the spread in each of their last two contests, the Magic are still a very solid 4-2 ATS over Philly in their last six meetings and will improve on those numbers with a big road win tonight.

NBA Free Picks: Over 191 Total Points/Orlando Magic -3½ Points
