Kolb has been quiet so far, and it’s actually his backup’s who’ve done most of the damage in Philadelphia’s wins. In their most recent victory against the Chiefs, Kolb struggled, completing just 11 of 25 passes for no touchdowns and an interception. It was his replacement Mike Kafka who did the real damage, throwing for what was ultimately the game winning touchdown with just seconds to go in the fourth quarter, making the Eagles a winner in the NFL spread picks.

Luckily for Kolb he does have help in Philadelphia, on what is one of the most potent offenses in football. Running back LeSean McCoy again proved that he may be one of the game’s top up and comer’s last weekend, as he rushed five times for 28 yards and a touchdown score. Receivers Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin also each caught three balls for 39 yards, with Coopers catch from Kafka the difference in victory.

However, Philadelphia will have their biggest test of the preseason, when the J-E-T-S come to town. The Jets are just 1-2, but always one of the smartest NFL spread picks around.

For the Eagles to win, the key will be pressuring starting quarterback Mark Sanchez. In three preseason games so far, Sanchez has struggled, and proven to be a bit turnover prone. Last weekend against the Redskins, he did throw for 139 yards, but also tossed an interception.

On defense, the Jets have a unit that’s good enough to make them anyone’s NFL spread picks, yet for some reason, they’ve struggled in the preseason. Last weekend was no different in Washington, when they allowed just 16 points, but 292 yards total, including 211 through the air. There’s no doubt that this team misses holdout Darrelle Revis, an All-Pro cornerback.

And it’s because of that defense that bettors need to stay away from the Jets when betting the NFL spread this Thursday.

It’s not so much that this unit isn’t good, because they are. But if we’ve learned one thing this preseason, it’s that the second and third groups- the one’s who’ll be playing Thursday- have struggled. Last weekend they allowed 10 second half points in the loss.

If this was first unit against the first unit, we’d tell you to go ahead and take the Jets. But it’s not, and because of it, the play to make Thursday, is on the Eagles against the NFL spread.
