NFL Prop Betting – Regular Season Win Totals

June 24, 2009

Football fans know that once the sportsbook releases the over/under on every single NFL team in regards to regular season victories, it means that football betting is just around the corner.

Such is the case at BetOnline where gamblers can now officially log on and place a wager on regular season totals. It’s actually one of the best future bets that a gambler can make as there are facts clearly indicating which way a team is likely to go, over or under.

Let’s take a look at the top six wagers, as of right now, in the NFL Regular Season Wins category.

NFL: Regular Season Wins

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Under 6 ½ -130 – - Tampa Bay is in trouble in 2009. Not only do they have quarterback issues and a new head coach, but they face other fantastic quarterbacks in the NFC South, like Drew Brees and Matt Ryan, the AFC East, Tom Brady and Chad Pennington, anyone? And, the NFC East, Eli Manning, Tony Romo, Donovan McNabb…ouch. The Bucs should be happy with 4 victories this year.

2. New York Jets Under 7 +120 – So, more than likely they’ll start a journeyman at quarterback or a rookie in Matt Sanchez. Either way, they’re screwed. They’re almost a carbon copy of Tampa Bay with a new coach, new QB and a ridiculously difficult schedule facing their rival AFC East squads as well as the NFC South and the likes of Tennessee and Jacksonville. Bummer.

3. New Orleans Saints Over 9 -115 – - The Saints don’t have a cakewalk of a schedule facing the NFC and AFC East but they do have improved defense and their offense should be better. This is a tough wager to make but I have to believe that teams like Dallas and Miami will be worse, the Jets and Redskins are easy ones, and Carolina and Tampa could be a victim of sweeps by the Saints in 2009. That’s 8 victories right there. They also face St. Louis and Buffalo. It looks like 10 victories to me.

4. Green Bay Packers Over 8 ½ -115 – - The Pack’s defense should be way better, Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and the schedule is much softer in 2009 then it was in 2008. Green Bay gets to play the weak NFC West with games against San Francisco, St. Louis, Seattle and the very beatable Arizona Cardinals. Two victories against Detroit, splits against Minnesota and Chicago and victories against Tampa Bay and Dallas means that not only do they get to at least 10 wins, but they also make the playoffs.

5. Tennessee Titans Under 9 +110 – - I like this bet because gamblers are getting NFL odds on a team that lucked into the best record in the AFC last year. Kerry Collins is a year older and Vince Young is done as a quarterback. The schedule is much, much tougher with games against Pittsburgh, San Diego, Arizona, Miami, Indianapolis (twice) and New England on the schedule. That’s potentially 6 losses. Also, the Jacksonville Jaguars, who they play twice and the Houston Texans, who they also play twice, should be improved. San Francisco and Seattle aren’t give me games as they play both of those teams on the road. It could be a tough year for the Titans.

6. New York Giants Over 10 +105 – - I love the Giants. With the best defensive front 7 in football and one of the top 3 offensive line units in football the G-Men have no business losing more than 4 games. The schedule looks ultra-tough but the Giants are just better than almost any other team in the NFL. They will beat Minnesota, Dallas (twice), New Orleans, Carolina and Atlanta because they are better. Give me games against Kansas City, Tampa Bay, Washington (twice) and Oakland means they at least get to 11 games.
