NHL Betting – Red Wings Force Game 5
May 9, 2010
The Detroit Red Wings wish that they could have spread the scoring over a few games rather than have explosion in one game.
The Wings overpowered the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night 7-1 and sent a statement to their combatant that they were not going to go easily.
With a win in San Jose on Saturday night, the Red Wings could find themselves back in the series once again.

San Jose leads series 3-1
Detroit Red Wings: +125
Was Thursday night’s performance a sign of things to come or was it a dying team’s last gasp? Time will tell. The Detroit Red Wings took advantage of a San Jose Sharks team that obviously wasn’t ready to play on Thursday night and consequently, the Sharks allowed the Wings to gain a little bit of confidence and to send the series back to San Jose.
Game 4 was an offensive explosion for the Red Wings. Johan Franzen scored a natural hat trick in a 3:26 span, added a fourth goal and chipped in two assists.
Who does he think he is – Joe Pavelski? Previously quiet Todd Bertuzzi had a goal and five assists, Henrik Zetterberg and Nicklas Lidstrom each has two assist and the list goes on. If there was any Detroit mojo missing, it has been found and returned to its owners.
Goaltender Jimmy Howard made 28 save in the game and looks as though he has been able to out the three previous shaky games behind him.
Puckline: Detroit: +1.5 (-235): San Jose: -1.5 (195)
San Jose Sharks: -150
OK, I’m going to give the San Jose Sharks a mulligan in this game. It may pay dividends to get a game like that out of the way. The good thing is that the Sharks will throw out the tape of that game and study the three previous games – the ones in which they were successful.
Dany Heatley scored with Marleau and Thornton assisting and that’s it for the San Jose Sharks. Has anyone seen Joe Pavelski in the last two games? The forwards will regroup and maybe have a good laugh over Thursday’s game but rest assured that they will be better in Game 5
Ilya Bryzgalov gets a mulligan too.
He had a bad night and got pulled during the game. Nothing to worry about here – it’s just a blip.
By Detroit extending the series on Thursday night, they appear to only be delaying the inevitable – or are they? The Wings have been close is all of their losses and some might argue that they perhaps deserve a better fate.
I think that the Wings ride the wave and make this series a little more interesting.
