Padding Your Bankroll at Gulfstream Park Today
February 11, 2010
While racing at Laurel Park and Aqueduct is canceled again on Thursday, with both tracks are buried under a couple of feet of snow, it will be sunny and warm at Gulfstream Park.
Despite the weather conditions around the country, there is still plenty of racing action to wager on today.
In addition to Gulfstream Park, we have Tampa Bay Downs, Oaklawn Park, and Santa Anita, giving us plenty of opportunities to pad our bankroll.
There were at least ten tracks canceling on Wednesday, and the total is mounting for today, but by Friday I am guessing most if not all will be back in action.
For Thursday, we will head to Gulfstream Park and look at the four races making up the Late Pick 4.
Three of the four races in the sequence have full fields, with the lone exception the sixth race, which drew a field of ten.
The wide open races assure we should see a very generous payoff in today’s Pick 4.
Gulfstream Park Race 6 Clm $50,000 (3:42 ET)
#6 Todd Got Even is coming off a sharp looking victory against Alw-1 company last out going six furlongs. The five year old stalked the early pace and made a good late rally to get up late for the win. Two back at a mile at the Big A he checked in third behind a pair of next out winners. The winner of the race was Rodman, who came back to win the Queens County (G3) on Dec. 12. The five year old has a second and a third in his two trips at a mile, and certainly has plenty of pedigree to handle the stretch out. He is by Stephen Got Even out of a Seeking the Gold mare.
#2 Unbridled Heat beat $40K claimers last out and stretches out from seven furlongs to a mile. The five year old is three for eight at the distance. #9 It’s Never to Late and #7 Pitched Perfectly both fit with their best.
Gulfstream Park Race 7 Clm $32,000 (4:12 ET)
#1 Saratoga Matt won back to back turf races at Calder, then found Alw-2 company too tough last out in his first go over the turf at Gulfstream Park. The gelding now drops into an easier spot here tagged for $32K for his second start off nearly a two month break. The gelding is a half to a couple of dirt stakes winners, top earner Smile My Lord ($231K). He figures to be a generous price here in this wide open race.

#6 Nergal figures to be sent off as the favorite. The gelding checked in fifth last out against Alw-2 optional claimers at Aqueduct over soft ground. The gelding is a five time turf winner including a stakes win at Suffolk.
I am likely going to go deep on my Pick 4 ticket on this race, also using #3 Storm Caller and #11 Paisano Creek.
Gulfstream Park Race 8 OClm $62,000N2X (4:43 ET)
#5 Warrior’s Reward is returning off nearly a three month break for the Wilkes barn that is 14% winners with horses coming back off a 61-180 day layoff. The colt was last seen at Churchill Downs in a good runner up finish at this condition in a highly graded race. Four came out of the horse race to win next out including the winner Flavor, who has won two of three starts since including the Forego Stakes at Turfway Park in his most recent outing. The colt mixed it up in stakes company last year and got a couple of questionable rides form Borel. I like the jock switch here to Leparoux.
#4 Presto Change O and #2 Imperial Council will also get a look, both are stakes caliber runners.
Gulfstream Park Race 9 Md Sp Wt (5:14 ET)
#12 Great Belief gets the call in the nightcap despite the tough post. The colt made a good late run to finish in the runner up spot last out at Tampa Bay Downs, a race that produced three next out winners. The colt is in good hands with the Motion barn and he has four sibs that are grass winners, top earner He Loves Me Not ($199K).
#3 Forgotten Dynasty figures to move forward in his second career start, and #5 Istishaary was a $1 million purchase making his second career start.
Good luck padding your bankroll today!
