Premier League Match Preview: Manchester United vs. Tottenham

April 24, 2009

Manchester United will try to widen the gap in the Premier League table at the expense of a visiting Tottenham Hostpurs. Top of the table Man U lost out on the quintuplet they were chasing last week when they were eliminated from FA Cup action. They are slightly miffed for the loss. But motivated, even more so now than ever before, to make their bid for the Premier League title a successful one.

Aside from their FA Cup hiccup, Manchester United are enjoying a charmed season. They had a busy fortnight in all competitions and for the most part, they were successful. They beat Portsmouth midweek 2:0 at the Old Trafford. Prior to that, they moved into the Champions League semis by eliminating FC Porto in the second leg of their tie on the away.

Sir Alex Fergusson has a lot to be optimistic about when his side prepares for Tottenham Hotspur and so do soccer betting fans.

Tottenham Hotspur are in the race for a finish in the top seven, which comes with a spot in UEFA Cup action. They are ninth in the table, level on points with Fulham at 44, and one point shy of seventh placed West Ham United. The final push of the season is a veritable scrap for points as they could mean the difference in nailing down invitations to European competitions and determining whether the season was a success or not after all. The pressure is huge on Tottenham and they could not have had a more difficult match in which to try to seize the necessary points.
