The Scoop on Casino 3 Card Poker

April 10, 2010

Any game affiliated with online poker is hot these days, and casino 3 Card Poker is no exception. Casino 3 Card Poker is the love child of a whole bevy of table games. Like video poker it integrates the concept of a qualifying hand (though in this case for the dealer). Like blackjack players compete against the dealer instead of each other. And of course the hand rankings come entirely from classic poker. Here’s a brief breakdown on how the game is played…

To compete against the dealer’s hands, players will place a wager in the Ante area. To be paid using a set paytable, players will place a wager in the Pair Plus area. Most online casinos have a mandatory ante bet, but some allow players to choose either or both of the Ante and Pair Plus bets.

Once the wagers are on the table, the dealer gives each player three cards and then deals themselves three cards face down. Players with an ante wager must now decide if they want to double their original bet and stay in the hand by placing an additional wager in the “Play” area, or if they want to fold and forfeit their ante. Once every player has made this decision, the dealer will reveal their cards and pay or collect bets as necessary.

It seems like common sense that casino 3 Card Poker players would want the dealer to have a bad hand, but should the dealer have anything less than a queen high then the antes are returned and the play wagers are pushed to the next hand. In other words, you want the dealer to have a beatable hand, but for the sake of ongoing action they must have at least a high card.

Pair Plus players will automatically be paid based on the size of their hand. So long as you receive a pair or better your Pair Plus wager will pay, regardless of what the dealer’s hand is.
