UFC 108 Salaries Breakdown
January 13, 2010
UFC 108 wasn’t quite the end-of-the-year blowout that we saw last year, but it still managed to be an entertaining fight card with plenty of memorable fights and incredible finishes.
The salaries for UFC 108, a card that was ravaged by injuries, seemed to reflect the scaled-down feel as well, as only Rashad Evans seemed to take home big money on the night.
Combining his $200,000 purse to show with his $175,000 win bonus made for a pretty impressive night’s work for the former Ultimate Fighter winner, not counting extras like bonuses or percentages of outside revenues.
Evans ended up winning his main event fight in the light heavyweight division with Thiago Silva by a unanimous decision, but the fight was a bit closer than that and closer than the salaries would indicate.
Silva only took home $55,000 on the night despite his past successes in the division and his status as a co-headliner.
Further down the pay charts, we see that Paul Daley was second with a salary of $84,200 for the evening, including an $18,000 win bonus and $50,000 Knockout of the Night Bonus. Daley could get a bigger contract soon and bigger fights with his entertaining knockout-based style.
Following Daley for third-biggest salary on the night were a pair of lightweight fighters in Sam Stout and Cole Miller, guys who aren’t the biggest names but both scored major bonuses on the night. Stout got Fight of the Night for his contest with Joe Lauzon, whom he defeated, notching $74,000 altogether, while Miller also took home $74,000 including $50,000 for Submission of the Night in his win over another Lauzon brother, Dan Lauzon.
Beyond that, it was a relatively low-cost event for the UFC with no one taking home more than $62,000, which Joe Lauzon got counting his $50,000 bonus.
