For the first time in state history, Massachusetts will host a live UFC event, as UFC: 118 crashes down at the TD Garden in Boston this Saturday night. Joe Lauzon (18-5-0) vs Gabe Ruediger (17-5-0)
Massachusetts-native Joe “Creepy Joe” Lauzon steps in to the octagon in front of his home crowd looking to bounce back from a loss to Sam Stout at UFC: 108 by ending the six-fight win streak of Gabe Ruediger. A black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and a yellow belt in Judo, Ruediger has submitted his opponent in 12 of his 17 wins, with four more victories coming via knock out, and is more than ready to make his debut in the UFC. Despite lacking the distinctions that his opponent carries in regards to colors, Lauzon has submitted 14 fighters in 18 career wins, and knocked the other four out as no fight he has been in has ever gone to judge’s decision. With two Fight of the Night honors, and two Submission of the Night honors, Lauzon should give his fans a show against an equally capable opponent.

Andre Winner (11-3-0) vs Nik Lentz (18-3-1)
UFC 118 Betting Lines: Winner -130
Undefeated in his last 11 fights, including his first three in the UFC, Nik “The Carny” Lentz returns to the octagon to take on Ande Winner in a lightweight bout. Lentz is undoubtedly the more aggressive of the two fighters, but must be careful not to get caught by the much more patient Winner.
Dan Miller (11-4-0) vs John Salter (5-1-0)
After suffering the first loss of his career to Gerald Harris five fights in, John Salter rebounded with a first round technical knock out win over Jason McDonald at UFC: 113. Now, the Headhunter Combatives representative steps in to the octagon to take on Dan Miller, the 29-year old BJJ black belt that has dropped three consecutive fights after opening his career with 11 wins through his first 12 contests.
Nick Osipczak (5-1-0) vs Greg Soto (7-1-0)
UFC 118 Betting Lines: Osipczak -155
After falling to Matthew Riddle in his UFC debut back in March, Greg Soto is ready to challenge Nick Osipczack in a welterweight bout. Osipczak himself is coming off his first loss in three fights in the UFC, and it will be important for both men to avoid consecutive losses this early in their UFC careers.
Mike Pierce (11-3-0) vs Amilcar Alves (11-1-0)
Brazilian Amilcar Alves will make his North American debut in the opening fight of the night at UFC 118 betting lines, taking on Portland-native Mike Pierce. Pierce bounced back with a win over Julio Paulino after losing to Jon Fitch by unanimous decision at UFC: 107, but this opponent is a definite upgrade over Paulino.
